Postcards from Hull: March – September 2020

Based on a suggestion made by several members at our AGM in August 2019, this project saw makers paint, draw, stitch, collage etc. a Hull-themed postcard to add to our virtual exhibition.

Originally, the project was meant to be a traveling exhibition built around our monthly Maker Days, but in the light of recent developments, we tweaked the concept and moved the whole thing online into a dedicated Facebook group, where all submitted postcards were collated in monthly albums.

There is also an online gallery on this website for general viewing.

In total, over 110 postcards were submitted, covering an impressive range of subjects, from the familiar (Humber Bridge, Maritime Museum) to the unexpected (Zoo Café, Pauline’s Gift Shop).

At the time of writing, the plan is to have a final exhibition ‘in the real world’ later in the year. We’ll keep you posted.
